About Joanna Steinglass

Dr. Joanna Steinglass is an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychiatry in the Center for Eating Disorders at NYSPI/CUMC. Dr. Steinglass graduated from Amherst College, and received her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. She completed her psychiatry training at NYSPI/Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons.

She completed a Research Fellowship in Eating Disorders under the mentorship of B. Timothy Walsh, M.D. and has continued as faculty in the Center for Eating Disorders since that time.

Research

Dr. Steinglass currently conducts clinical research in anorexia nervosa. Her research aims to elucidate the neural mechanisms of anorexia nervosa, and to develop treatments to better prevent relapse. She is investigating the cognitive neuroscience of anorexia nervosa. Her work focuses on the link between neural mechanisms and salient behavioral disturbances for individuals with anorexia nervosa.
