Our priority at ColumbiaDoctors Psychiatry is taking care of our patients as a whole person, not just treating symptoms or diagnoses. People in emotional distress are often evaluated and treated initially by primary general physicians or by psychotherapists. However, a more complete diagnostic evaluation by a psychiatrist may be warranted in severe depression, anxiety, agitation, or seriously disturbed thinking and behavior.

Many times, patients often need help for multiple problems, with specialists simultaneously approaching each issue—for example, substance abuse and an eating disorder.

Our therapists are seasoned clinicians, many with decades of experience. We offer state-of-the-art evaluations, and treatment tailored to the patient’s your personal needs and goals.

In addition, The Columbia University Day Treatment Program is a unique, comprehensive service that provides structure and support to normally high-functioning adults in crisis.
