About Shonni Silverberg
Dr. Silverberg is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She graduated from Cornell University Medical College and completed Internal Medicine residency at New York Hospital. She came to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for an NIH postdoctoral fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism, and is currently co-director of that training program.

Research
Dr. Silverberg's research and clinical interests focus in the area of metabolic bone diseases, with a particular focus on primary hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Silverberg currently holds several NIH grants for the investigation of parathyroid disorders and vitamin D deficiency. She has published over 150 original articles, editorials and reviews in her area of expertise and has been a member of both NIH and international consensus panels on primary hyperparathyroididsm. Her clinical practice is limited to patients with disorders of bone and calcium metabolism including primary hyperparathyroidism and osteoporosis. Dr. Silverberg is the recipient of the Boy Frame Award for Clinical Excellence in the Field of Bone and Mineral Research from the American Society of Bone & Mineral Research in 2010.
Research Interests
- Dr. Silverberg's research interests are in the investigation and management of disorders of bone and mineral metabolism. Her main area of interest is the clinical study of primary hyperparathyroidism, including non-traditional as well as classical manifestations of the disease, and options for medical therapy.
