Brief intervention therapy
Brief intervention therapy is a series of short counseling sessions for people who have alcohol problems. The sessions usually last between 5 to 20 minutes on one or more occasions.
During these sessions, a primary care provider gives feedback about problems caused by a person's drinking habits. He or she will also give advice on how to drink less or quit drinking.
