Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a disorder that makes it hard for a child to speak well. They understand language. They know what they want to say. And the muscles of their mouth and throat work properly. But their brain isn't able to create speech that others can understand.

CAS has many symptoms. Some of those include slow language development and saying words the wrong way.

With speech therapy, people who have CAS can learn to speak more clearly.
