Celiac disease is an inflammation of the intestines caused by eating gluten-containing foods such as wheat, rye, and barley. It is one of most common gastrointestinal ailments, yet it often remains undiagnosed and untreated.

The Celiac Disease Center was established in 2001 to redefine our approach to celiac disease. Our physicians are world-renowned for advances in patient care, physician and public education, and innovative research. In addition, we run one of a few medical school-supported centers in the United States dedicated to the treatment and study of celiac disease.

Experts at our Pediatric Celiac Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital draw upon the resources of the Celiac Disease Center to help children and adolescents suffering from celiac disease. Working closely with a dedicated nutritionist, we provide dietary counseling for you and your child—an essential part of treatment because even small amounts of gluten can cause intestinal problems.
