It is the mission of the dedicated pediatric allergists of ColumbiaDoctors to provide superior, comprehensive care to children and individuals of all ages with allergic diseases.
Our approach is to give patients personalized and multidisciplinary medical care, while upholding the highest standards. We focus on educating our patients and their families to empower them to be active participants in the management of their disease. As a leading institution in the research of allergies, ColumbiaDoctors allergists incorporate the latest advances into caring for patients.
Our team consists of specialists with wide variety of backgrounds and areas of focus. This diversity allows us to be better prepared to care for our patients’ unique needs. We provide integral diagnostic and consultative expertise for our inpatient and outpatient services.
Our specialists provide initial diagnoses, second opinions, allergic, immunologic testing, as well as expert medical care. The initial comprehensive evaluation includes a thorough patient history, physical examination, and detailed review of previous records and test results.
Depending on the condition, we may perform additional specialized procedures, laboratory testing, and consultation with specialists in other fields such as gastroenterology, pulmonology, dermatology, hematology-oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and genetics.
Expertise of Our Specialists
All of our academic faculty are nationally recognized clinical experts in the care of individuals with allergic diseases. Our affiliated hospital NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital is a referral center for other children’s centers, and we have the resources and staff to care for the most complex patients. In 2016, the Food Allergy Research & Education Clinical Network named Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital as a center of excellence to serve as a site for clinical trials researching new therapeutics and to expand best practices for the care of patients with food allergies.
ColumbiaDoctors pediatric allergist-immunologists are always working to develop educational programs for patients and their families. We have produced written material on the causes and treatment of many allergic conditions and asthma. We have programs to educate other physicians in how to implement national guidelines in their clinical practices.
Our specialists are highly trained and board certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine. The Allergy physicians serve on editorial boards, chair regional and national committees and allergy societies, and have published in established journals including New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Up-to-Date, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and Journal of Clinical Investigation. They are sought-after media experts and have shared their insights via The Dr. Oz Show, WINS-AM radio station, and Daily News.
