Leadership Team

Katrina Armstrong, MD, CEO of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, has led a renewed focus on quality and patient safety (QPS), investing in plans to design and expand an ambitious structure of policies, training, and governance. James McKiernan, MD, CEO of ColumbiaDoctors, leads a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in care quality, safety, and patient experience.

Derek Mazique, MD, Chief Medical Officer of ColumbiaDoctors, oversees ColumbiaDoctors’ quality and safety efforts with the support of Teri Gillette, BSN, Chief Quality Officer of ColumbiaDoctors.

The Quality, Safety & Patient Experience Committee is led by Ajay Gupta, MD, Chair of Radiology, and Meghan Lane-Fall, MD, Chair of Anesthesiology, to ensure that CUIMC achieves exceptional results in key quality and safety metrics and institutes best-in-class policies and procedures.

The Center for Patient Safety Science is led by Dr. Adelman, Associate Dean for Quality and Patient Safety, who leads teams that mobilize responsive research programs to ensure that CUIMC becomes a national leader in patient safety.
