At ColumbiaDoctors, we offer specialized care for adult patients with allergies, helping them to gain control of their lives and avoid life-threatening reactions. Our experts in allergic diseases give patients the knowledge base and individualized care needed to manage their allergies.
ColumbiaDoctors allergists have a deep understanding of the causes, triggers and different types of allergies and use proven methods to control allergies. As a leading research center in allergy and immunology, we bring the latest insights to patient care, using state-of-the-art measures to help diagnose and treat allergic disorders. We also educate patients about their allergies, allowing them to become active participants in the management of their disease.
Our team consists of board-certified and highly trained specialists with a wide variety of clinical backgrounds and areas of focus, from asthma to eosinophilic esophagitis.
ColumbiaDoctors allergists deliver comprehensive care, providing initial diagnoses, second opinions, and allergic and immunologic testing. Every patient receives a full initial evaluation, which includes taking a thorough patient history, performing a physical examination, and reviewing previous records and test results. With our multidisciplinary approach, we work closely with other specialists and consultants, ensuring that patients receive coordinated, expert care.
All of our clinicians are faculty members at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and are nationally recognized clinical experts in allergic diseases. We are affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, a top-ranked hospital, and serve as a regional referral center for other centers.
ColumbiaDoctors allergist-immunologists develop educational programs to help patients with allergies. We also lead programs to educate other physicians nationwide in implementing guidelines in their clinical practices.

Our allergy program evaluates and treats patients with a range of allergic conditions. We care for patients with environmental, drug, latex, and insect sting allergies, along with many others. Tailoring our approach to the individual patient's disease, we offer both conservative management and proactive treatment for allergic gastrointestinal disorders, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), skin allergies, eczema, hives, and life-threatening allergic reactions. Treatments may include a comprehensive evaluation of triggers, medical management, and immunotherapy.

Our Food Allergy program offers the highest quality care of food-allergic patients, using the latest evidence-based advances and access to clinical trials. We evaluate food allergy-related conditions including anaphylaxis, hives, swelling, eczema, eosinophilic esophagitis, and food protein sensitivity. A thorough dietary history and medical history is part of our evaluation.
At the forefront of asthma research for 20 years, our experts in asthma focus on providing a comprehensive evaluation of asthma causes and delivering complete care. At least half of all asthma cases result from allergies. We manage the full spectrum of asthma including the most complex cases. Our specialists focus on identifying and managing asthma triggers, including allergens, and to modify its course. We also offer a full range of diagnostic testing for disorders that mimic asthma and access to clinical trials.
