Palliative Care

When you have a serious illness, you and your loved ones may be overwhelmed by its symptoms, pain, and stress. The focus of the Adult Palliative Care Service at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is to help improve your quality of life and provide relief, whether you are being treated for cancer, heart failure, kidney failure, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, or other illnesses. We will work with your providers to offer an added layer of support regardless of age, disease stage, or prognosis. Central to our care approach is communication and coordination to ensure your treatment options maximize your quality of life while respecting your goals and aspirations.

Our multidisciplinary team of pain management experts, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support, and communications and coordination of care experts are also here to help you and your family navigate the complex healthcare system and provide guidance on treatment options and referrals to other services and help you plan for the future during this difficult time.
