Who We Are

Columbia Dermatology is dedicated to providing world-class dermatopathology diagnostic and consultation services where our clients receive superior, advanced, and personalized attention in a recently renovated state-of-the-art facility.  

We know the relationships you have with your patients are based on trust, which comes from reliable, expedient, and accurate diagnoses. Our faculty has more than 100 years of experience combined, and our dermatopathologists are experts in examining and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic tests to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

Our laboratory is CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited. We process over 120,000 specimens annually. In collaboration with our partners in Surgical Pathology, we offer state-of-the-art advanced diagnostics, including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, and sequencing to provide physicians and patients with critical information to guide treatment decisions.

  • Dedicated client representatives to address any questions, including in-service staff and assistance with patient concerns or questions
  • Rapid turnaround time, with more than 90% of cases being signed out within 24 hours
  • Results within 24 hours of receipt of biopsy
  • EMR Interface on an individual basis
  • Direct access and communication with our expert dermatopathologists and client advocates
  • Digital dermatopathology
  • Preparation of clinicopathologic conferences
  • Evaluation of predictive and therapeutic biomarkers in tissue for inflammatory conditions (IL-17, IFNg, NOS2, IL-13)
  • Access to pathology results via a secure web portal
  • ACGME Accredited Dermatopathology Fellowship

In addition to these services, we have launched new diagnostic testing for specific conditions. Our list of test offerings includes:

  • Routine H&E stains and special stains
  • Direct immunofluorescence testing (IgG, IgM, IgA, C3, C5b9, Fibrinogen)
  • Immunohistochemistry (extensive menu)
  • RNA scope in situ hybridization
  • Tick interpretation

Molecular diagnostics (in combination with Pathology):

  • IGH/TCR clonality studies
  • NGS (500) gene panel
  • Single cell sequencing panels (melanoma, soft tissue tumors, and more)
  • Fluorescent in situ hybridization
