John Edsall-John Wood Asthma Center

The John Edsall-John Wood Asthma Center provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to adults with asthma. We recognize that each patient responds to asthma and treatments differently. Our pulmonologists work to create an individualized treatment plan focused on improving a patient's everyday quality of life.

Our pulmonologists will provide a complete evaluation to help you manage your asthma. We will discuss your symptoms, review your complete health history, conduct a physical exam, and perform tests on site to determine the best treatment options. Our team will review your home and work environment to determine which indoor and outdoor allergens might be triggering symptoms.

Patients are taught early warning signs of asthma, triggers, environmental control measures, medications, and the correct use of inhalers. Spacers and peak flow meters are provided for home use. All patients have access to consultants, such as:

  • Nutritionists
  • Exercise physiologists
  • ENT physicians
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Visiting nurses
  • Social workers

The center will coordinate care with your referring physician and provide a written summary with treatment recommendations for each patient visit at the Asthma Center.

Partner With Experts To Manage Your Asthma

Patients benefit from the center's rapid access to the latest research breakthroughs for the prevention and treatment of asthma. Our team also places a strong focus on patient education. While there is no cure for asthma, our physicians help patients to understand the disease and how to properly manage it.

Access to the Latest Treatments

The center offers clinical trials focused on the controlled testing of new drugs and combinations of drugs for the treatment of asthma, as well as studies of the molecular basis of the disease.
