Obstetrics & Gynecology
ColumbiaDoctors Obstetrics and Gynecology has delivered exceptional health care to the women of New York City and well beyond for over one hundred and twenty-five years. Founded in 1887 at Columbia University Medical Center, the Sloane Hospital for Women is the oldest continually operating hospital in New York devoted to health care for women. The first to connect obstetrics to gynecologic care and still the only to offer pediatric and adolescent gynecology services in New York City, our physicians consistently seek innovation and advancement to better care for their patients.
Serving the needs of women throughout their life course, our physicians treat each individual patient with the highest level of care and concern for her overall well-being. From routine gynecologic services to the most high-risk pregnancies and complex gynecologic conditions, our team of physicians collaborate to offer a multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment. International leaders in women’s health research, our physicians author publications aimed at providing the best possible patient outcomes in maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, prenatal pediatrics, gynecologic specialty surgery, and reproductive endocrinology.
With a regional and national reputation for excellence in women’s health care, particularly around management of high-risk pregnancy, patients come from across the country and around the world to see our physicians. They are all affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian, which is routinely ranked as one of the best hospitals in the nation, and have access to the top specialists from every discipline.
It is our honor and privilege to care for women throughout each stage of their lives, providing not only the full range of obstetric and gynecologic clinical services, but also support and guidance – and with a passion for advancing the health of women everywhere.
Our team of ob/gyns is known for its expertise in the following areas:
Routine Gynecologic and Obstetric Care
With over ten out-patient locations, we offer easy access to comprehensive well-women and preventative care to meet patients’ changing needs as they move through adolescence, child-bearing, menopausal, and post-menopausal years.
For women and their babies who are at risk of health complications before, during, or after pregnancy, we offer expert, personal care at our three centers.
- Center for Prenatal Pediatrics offers expert fetal diagnosis and therapy for babies at risk of preterm birth or suspected of congenital abnormalities.
- Preterm Birth Prevention Center takes a personalized approach to care for women who are at high risk for preterm birth.
- Mothers Center provides multi-disciplinary, coordinated care to pregnant women with heart disease, cancer, transplants, and other complex medical conditions.
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
One of the largest and longest-standing infertility centers in New York, our Center for Women’s Reproductive Care offers the full spectrum of infertility services, including egg and embryo freezing, assisted reproduction (IVF, ICSI, TESA), and artificial insemination. In partnership with New York State, we are able to provide infertility services for the underinsured and uninsured.
We provide education and care for women related to sexually-transmitted diseases, methods of contraception, miscarriages, and pregnancy terminations. Our program also includes community outreach to offer health education and guidance on diet and nutrition at local schools.
Gynecologic Specialty Surgery
With expertise in providing advanced surgical management for conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, and abnormal uterine bleeding, we offer minimally invasive surgery (robotic, laparoscopic, and hysteroscopic) techniques that extend many benefits to patients, such as shorter recovery time, less postoperative pain, and fewer complications. Our surgeons are pioneers of techniques that greatly increase the chances of preserving fertility while managing these conditions.
We offer comprehensive care for women with gynecologic cancer, from screening to surgery to recovery and follow-up treatment. In collaboration with the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University Medical Center, we ensure that surgery and follow-up treatment services are well-coordinated. We also connect patients with the Integrative Medicine for Women’s Cancer program, which offers patients access to clinically-validated therapies, such as yoga, acupuncture, diet, and nutrition that complement cancer treatment.
We provide integrated care for women with pelvic floor disorders, such as prolapse and incontinence. As a member of a national, multi-center research network that is seeking to better understand and treat pelvic floor disorders, we offer the most precise and comprehensive testing available for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
We have the first and only program of its kind in Manhattan, offering specialized care for infants, children, and adolescents with gynecologic problems and conditions.
We see patients at several convenient out-patient locations in the New York metro area, including Washington Heights, midtown Manhattan, Riverdale, and Rockland and Westchester counties. Our inpatient services are provided at the Sloane Hospital for Women and at Milstein Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center (Washington Heights), the Allen Hospital (northern tip of Manhattan), and at Lawrence Hospital (Bronxville, New York).
