Mothers Center Heart Program

The Mothers Center Heart Program provides comprehensive clinical care to women with cardiovascular disease who are pregnant or contemplating pregnancy. The program brings together specialists in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Cardiology, and Obstetric Anesthesiology to provide clinical care, conduct research, and provide educational opportunities for trainees and practitioners.

Our Services

We offer multidisciplinary maternal cardiovascular management, including:

  • Pre-conception counseling for pregnancy risk assessment and pre-pregnancy optimization of cardiovascular health for women with pre-existing conditions, including congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, aortopathy, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, or severe chronic hypertension.
  • Prenatal care and delivery planning for women with pre-existing conditions including congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, aortopathy, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, or severe chronic hypertension.
  • Management of new onset cardiovascular complications of pregnancy including peripartum cardiomyopathy, pre-eclampsia, and acute coronary syndrome/coronary artery dissection.
  • Postpartum cardiovascular risk assessment and counseling on preventive measures in order to reduce the incidence of future pregnancy complications and long-term cardiovascular disease in women; contraception care; postpartum transition of care to internal medicine/cardiology.
