Diabetes Care During Pregnancy

The Mothers Center Diabetes in Pregnancy Program

The Mothers Center Diabetes in Pregnancy Program provides multi-disciplinary care for people with gestational, Type 1, Type 2, and other rare forms of diabetes. We take a holistic and individualized approach to diabetes care, keeping in mind that this diagnosis can be stressful for most individuals. Glucose management not only involves nutrition and activity levels but also working on improving stress and sleep schedules. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists work closely with certified diabetes educators, trained registered nurses, and registered dietitians to help manage glucose levels during pregnancy. For those who are referred by a low-risk obstetrician, we work side-by-side with their doctors with regular follow-ups throughout the pregnancy until delivery.

For people with Type 1 diabetes, we work closely with the highly-skilled endocrinology team at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center using the latest insulin delivery and glucose monitoring technology to achieve optimal glucose levels. We also provide pre-conception counseling for individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes or a history of gestational diabetes.

Consultations and education sessions can be scheduled in-person or as a video visit for added convenience.
