Interventional Cardiology

Columbia is one of the world's leading tertiary referral centers for patients with complex cardiovascular, endovascular, and structural heart disease. Our staff of more than 30 interventional cardiologists includes renowned experts in treating the most complex cardiovascular disease and pioneers in developing advanced transcatheter minimally invasive techniques and technologies in the field. We perform more than 11,000 cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures annually, and our outcomes and patient satisfaction scores are second to none.

Columbia has been among the first institutions to pioneer and adopt the latest procedures and technologies in interventional cardiology. We offer a highly customized clinical treatment plan for all patients suffering from routine or complex cardiovascular disease. This personalized approach to every patient typifies our philosophy of providing the highest levels of care for our patients.

Columbia’s interventional cardiology team cares for patients with many different cardiac problems, including those with the most advanced cardiovascular disease such as chronic total occlusions (CTOs), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), valve disease and other structural issues, and adult congenital disease.

At Columbia, patients who might otherwise have no treatment options have access to novel experimental therapies and landmark studies. Through our Clinical Trials Center, we now have more than 2,500 patients involved in more than 40 trials and studies, of which 20 are actively enrolling patients.

We are also closely affiliated with the not-for-profit Cardiovascular Research Foundation, which sponsors more than 50 educational meetings, conferences, and teaching symposia every year. Among them is the annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) scientific symposium, the largest and most comprehensive interventional cardiology meeting in the world.
